Looking at instruments and coming up with more questions than answers?
Here are a few ideas to get started . . .
• Yes, all students need an instrument at home to practice on.
• Yes, a real, acoustic piano in good condition is best.
• Yes, it's a significant investment if you do not already have an instrument in your home. However, you might find a creative solution! Is there a piano in your family that you can move into your home? Does your church or someone in your family or work circle have an instrument that is not being used that you could house for a year or indefinitely?
Visit a piano store like Steinway Hall - Plano, the Kawai Piano Gallery, Metroplex Piano, or Collora Piano. Try different pianos and talk to a salesman. You can also consider renting a piano monthly until you are ready to purchase. Locally, Steinway and Kawai have rental programs as well as a wide range of new and used pianos for purchase.
Visit a music store and try different digital pianos. There are a wide variety of full-size digital pianos with weighted keys that will serve a beginning student very well and are available at a range of prices.
* I can recommend a handful of digital pianos that would be a good fit for a beginning student. *
